An even lineup of ewes and rams sold to strong demand at Gamadale Australian Whites on Friday.
The third annual Gamadale Australian Whites built on its 2018 success with stud rams selling to $9500 and flock rams averaging $1496.
Nip and Di and Ben and Sheena, Rowney, Lascelles, offered a slightly increased offering of flock rams with widespread demand both at the sale venue and via AuctionsPlus.
Top stud ram at $9500 was an April 18-drop ram sired by Tattykeel 161100. It was bought via AuctionsPlus for account Josh Nourse Quality Livestock on behalf of Ben and Kerry Heinrich, Manofield Australian Whites, Black Springs, South Australia.
Mr Nourse said the Heinrichs had chosen the ram to put over 30 stud ewes they recently bought from Tattykeel.
He said the Heinrichs ran around 1000 commercial Aussie Whites for their own lamb brand – Wunderbar Lamb.
Ben Rowney said it was the best quality offering of rams the stud had presented.
“We’re happy with what we’ve presented and hopefully all buyers have got what they wanted and they do the right thing for them,” he said.
Buyers bid from NSW, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia as well as a wide area of Victoria.
A second stud ram by the same Tattykeel sire sold for $3250 also to an AuctionsPlus account.
Top of the flock rams was a ram by Tattykeel 150826, selling for $3250. The April 18 drop ram was bought by an Landmark Ararat account.
The top priced ewe at $5500 also went through AuctionsPlus and was bought by Windsong Valley Estate, Bedfordale, Western Australia.
The Wallaby Creek Australian White stud of Cooper Lamprey, Harford, Tasmania, through Roberts Limited, paid $2750 for the opening ewe lot.
The same buyer bought two further ewes at $2250 and $1500. The stud also purchased four rams to a top of $1750 on two occasions.
Des Lush, Yara Station, Mount Hope, NSW, purchased 20 rams for his 3000-strong Australian White flock.
Mr Lush said the Aussie White commercial flock was easy care for the 5200 hectare property where grain was the main business.
South Australia-based, Jarrad Simcock, Bool Lagoon near Naracoorte, has been buying Gamadale genetics for the past three years and took home 10 rams.
Mr Simcock said the rams would be used in his 6000-strong ewe flock.
